Greetings! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and you were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. And speaking of fresh air, I wanted to make you aware of a program the City of Fort Collins has called Healthy Homes. Its goal is to educate people about the risks of indoor air pollution and offer assessment of any potential dangers in your home, such as mold and radon. They provide a free radon kit, and if something gnarly does present itself the city also offers zero interest loans up to $10,000 to help with the mitigation of air pollution issues in the home, such as upgrading a fireplace or installing a radon mitigation system.
Assessments take about an hour and you can sign up by going here: http://www.fcgov.com/healthyhomes Or by contacting the main coordinator: Selina Lujan Assistant Program Coordinator Healthy Homes Program City of Fort Collins Environmental Services Department 222 Laporte Ave. Fort Collins, CO 80522-0508 slujan@fcgov.com 970-224-6129 Additionally, this program was brought to my attention by a client of mine who is now serving as one of the master educators. If you'd prefer to have her assess your home please let me know and I'll pass along your info. The assessments are available within the city limits of Fort Collins, however if you are in a different city and have concerns about the air quality of your home I would urge you to check out the information in the link provided. As always, if there is anything I can do to help you out please give me a shout. Have a great day! Crip Originally published April 17th, 2017
