CRIP ERICKSON
DRUMS
Crip is a self-taught drummer who learned to play on a make-shift kit of ice cream pails, rubber buckets, lunch boxes and punch bowls at the age of 10. After a couple years of breaking every utensil in the house, he got his first "real" drum set: A blue sparkle Ludwig knock-off devoid of tone. He jammed with family and friends throughout high school and college in various bands, and got serious about the technical side of the instrument once he moved to Fort Collins in the late 90s to join local heroes The Atoll.
Around this time he started teaching lessons, which meant addressing his own bad habits and learning to read music in order to study various texts. He still does lessons occasionally, and teaches a combo of what he taught himself and what he wished he would have learned from the beginning with proper instruction. Crip currently plays with the local band Mama Lenny and the Remedy and fills in occasionally around the region.
